On the occasion of Eid al-Adha UNMIT Police Commissioner Luis Carrilho joined members of UNMIT's Turkish Police Contingent as they presented gifts to children at the Dili Mosque Orphanage which houses 87 children.

UNMIT Press Release: GIS Day Event, 16-29 November 2010


Dili, 15 November 2010 - The Geographic Information Group (GIG) in Timor-Leste announces that it will be organizing a unique two-week-long event about Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping. The event will take place from 16-29 November 2010 at Casa Europa from 8am-5pm (excluding holidays and weekends, details in next page).

On the occasion of World Food Day, Spain and the UN renewed their commitment to work together against hunger and malnutrition in Timor-Leste. In 2010, Spain became a major donor to UN agencies, funds and programmes in Timor-Leste. In the area of food security and nutrition, Spain's contribution exceeds US$6.65 million.

UN Police Adviser arrives to Timor-Leste

United Nations Police Adviser Ann-Marie Orler arrived in Timor-Leste this afternoon to begin a five-day official visit. She was received at the Nicolau Lobato International Airport by Acting SRSG Finn Reske-Nielsen, Deputy SRSG Shigeru Mochida and UNMIT Police Commissioner Luis Carrilho.
