UN LAUNCHES GROUNDBREAKING MULTIMEDIA WEBSITE ON TIMOR-LESTE


Dili, 30 November 2012 -
The United Nations today launched a groundbreaking new multimedia website, Momentum.tl, that pays tribute to the achievements of the people of Timor-Leste since they embarked on the path of independence in 1999 and marks the departure of UN peacekeepers from Timor-Leste after 13 years.

Progress leads to PNTL certification

The National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) was today certified by the Prime Minister and Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General, following a joint assessment by the PNTL and United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste Police (UNPOL).

Dili, 18 June 2012
The United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, appoints Finn Reske-Nielsen as Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Timor-Leste and Head of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste. 

Finn Reske-Nielsen will serve as head of the UN Mission until the envisaged closure of UNMIT at the end of 2012. He also retains his functions as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Timor-Leste.
