Closure of UNMIT

The United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste completed its mandate on 31 December 2012. Find out more about the closure in our Fact Sheet and by visiting the Momentum website which pays tribute to the Timorese achievements and marks the departure of UN peacekeepers.

  • By which the Council commends the remarkable achievements made by Timor-Leste and recognizes the important contribution of UNMIT in promoting peace, stability and development in the country

  • By which the Council condemns in the strongest possible terms the attempt on the life of the President of Timor-Leste, Jose Ramos-Horta, during an attack on his residence, as well as the attack on the convoy of the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Xanana Gu
