Closure of UNMIT

The United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste completed its mandate on 31 December 2012. The establishment of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) was preceded by a number of other UN operations or missions deployed in Timor-Leste beginning in 1999.

The United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) is the result of an ongoing consultative process intended to analyse how the United Nations can most effectively respond to Timor-Leste’s national priorities and needs in a post-conflict context.

United Nations Mission in Timor-Leste

The United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) was established by Security Council resolution 1704 of 25 August 2006. UNMIT supported Timor-Leste’s stability, democratic governance, police and justice sector reform, and human rights.
