UNMIT Spokesperson Allison Cooper: Thanks for joining us this morning. We are going to be talking about the Global Food Crisis and its effect in Timor-Leste, we will first hear from the Acting SRSG Finn Reske-Nielsen and we will then take your questions. Chana Opaskornkul of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization and Joan Fleuren, Country Director for the World Food Programme are here to assist with the questions.

Good morning, before I depart for New York this afternoon to address the Security Council on the progress made and future challenges for UNMIT, I am particularly happy and delighted to be able to introduce Dr Nafis Sadik.

The Head of Delegation Ambassador Kumalo will make a statement on behalf of the delegation and we will then open up for questioning. Not much from me this morning except there is a new statement here by the Secretary General of the United Nations following yesterday’s presidential elections. Is in four language and I encourage you all to take a copy of it before you leave. This afternoon we will be hearing from our head of mission, Mr Atul Khare and the will be followed by Mr. Finn Reske-Nielsen. Thank you for coming.

Allison Cooper, UNMIT Spokesperson: Thanks for coming to the press this afternoon; sorry for the delay, we were waiting until the President had finished his speech [inaudible]. In this afternoon press briefing we are going to be hearing a statement from the SRSG Atul Khare that will be followed by a statement by Brigadier Mal Rerden. After that we are going to open the floor for questioning, of which you all have a chance to ask question. Good morning everybody. Thank you for coming to our regular press briefing here at UNMIT. The first announcement I would like to make is that the SRSG for UNMIT arrives in Dili on Sunday. Mr. Atul Khare will be introduced to you all at a press conference here at Obrigado Barracks on Monday; we are still deciding the time for that, but I will let you know over the weekend about that. But for today’s conference we'll first of all be hearing from the Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Mr. Finn Reske-Nielsen who will be talking to you about an update on the IDP situation, then we will be handing over to Deputy SRSG Mr. Eric Tan and the Police Commissioner Mr. Rodolfo Tor for an update on the security situation. I also have some written information here on UNPol activities over the past week, which I will hand out before you go. So, thank you for coming and I will hand over Mr. Finn.
