  • 07 Jul 2008 - June 11, 2007 – DILI: On Saturday afternoon, Timorese police officers led a successful operation to quash illegal gambling rings in Dili, with the support of United Nations police and the International Stabilisation Force (ISF). The operation began at 1745hrs, with police and ISF cordoning off several roads in Dili and raiding three illegal gambling venues in central Dili.

The chartered flight carrying the papers was met by officials from the Government, the National Electoral Commission (CNE), the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE), and the United Nations.
  • 07 Jul 2008 - 26 June 2007 Dili, Timor-Leste – The distribution of ballot papers for the Parliamentary Elections on 30 June commenced today from Dili to the District Capitals through the joint efforts of the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) and the United Nations.
  • 07 Jul 2008 - On the 30th June 2007, STAE carries out the delivery of the sensitive electoral materials to the districts, including the ballot papers. In total, 652000 ballots were produced and will ultimately be distributed to the 708 polling stations throughout the country. The number of ballots was calculated using the number of voters who were able to vote in the last elections, plus an additional 20% of ballots.

  • 07 Jul 2008 - The members of the Security Council expressed their full support for the holding of the parliamentary elections in Timor-Leste on 30 June 2007. The members of the Security Council called upon all parties in Timor-Leste to adhere to the principles of non-violence and to democratic and legal processes to ensure that these elections have a unifying impact and contribute to bringing the people of Timor-Leste together.
