National police resume responsibility in Timor-Leste
Dili, 1 April 2011 - Timor-Leste has begun a new chapter in the country's history, as the national police force assumed primary responsibility for law and order at the end of March.
This follows five years in which the United Nations peacekeeping mission was in charge of policing the small South-East Asian country. Joyce De Pina spoke with the UN special representative for Timor-Leste, Ameerah Haq about the handover of police responsibilities and the future of UNMIT.
