  • 10 Sep 2008 - Timor-Leste, 10 September 2008 - Under its programme of support to the Ministry of Health of Timor Leste, this Thursday at the Salaun Enkontro of the Hospital Nasional Guido Valadares, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will hand over to the Maternity Department two ultrasound machines as well as specialized instruments and supplies for fistula surgery.
  • 21 Aug 2008 - Timor-Leste, 21 August 2008 - In a public report released in Dili today, the United Nations noted that Timor-Leste has continued to consolidate progress in key human rights areas, including adherence to the rule of law, strengthening of the judicial system and addressing past human rights violations.   • 09 Jul 2008 - 23rd February, 2007 - UNPol is investigating this morning's incident in which a Timorese national was fatally injured, and two others were injured, at an internally displaced persons' camp near the Dili airport. UNPol advises the area is secure after officers from the Malaysian, Pakistani and Portuguese Formed Police Units were immediately deployed to the area.
  • 09 Jul 2008 - The Electoral Certification Team (ECT) is an independent body appointed by the Secretary-General pursuant to Security Council resolution 1704 (2006) to assess whether the electoral process for the 2007 Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Timor-Leste has been proceeding in a satisfactory manner. The team has so far made six visits to Timor Leste – the last one from 4 to 23 April 2007.
  • 09 Jul 2008 - The top UN envoy in Timor-Leste today formally congratulated Dr. José Ramos-Horta on his victory in the country's presidential election. President-elect Ramos-Horta will be sworn in as the country's second president at a ceremony in Dili on Sunday.
