Dili, 30 June 2009 - Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão and Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (SRSG) for East Timor Atul Khare presided today over the ceremony marking the resumption of primary responsibilities for the conduct of police operations by Polícia Nacional de Timor-Leste (PNTL) in the District of Oecussi.
Lospalos (Timor-Leste), 14 May 2009 - Today in Lautem District the Polícia Nacional de Timor-Leste (PNTL) resumed primary policing responsibility in the first district since the establishment of UNMIT by the Security Council on 25 August 2006 with a ceremony led by Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão and Special Representative of the Secretary-General Dr Atul Khare.

Dili, 13 May 2009 - Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão and Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (SRSG) for Timor-Leste Atul Khare today decided that the resumption of primary responsibilities for the conduct of police operations by Polícia Nacional de Timor-Leste (PNTL) will commence in the District of Lautem on 14 May 2009.

Dili, 12 May 2009 - The Sri Lankan police contingent of the UN Police initiated a community project for the Becora "Orfanato Santa Bakhita". The 54 members of the contingent have decided to donate an assortment of items, which included a refrigerator and other electrical appliances, to the orphanage.

Dili, 28 April 2009 - Marking the third anniversary of enhanced UN presence since the 2006 crisis in Timor-Leste, President José Ramos-Horta and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão visited the Mission Headquarters of the United Nations in Dili. The leaders of Timor-Leste were received by the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) Atul Khare and they met with UN staff members in a town hall meeting.
