    20 March, Dili-- The Ministry of Health, supported by UNFPA, launched a new radio drama series Domin Familia on Radio Timor-Leste (RTL) last Saturday, 14 March. This radio soap opera chronicles the story of the Amaral family, a typical Timorese family dealing with the issues of family planning, safe motherhood and other reproductive health issues.

  • 27 Feb 2009 - Dili, 26 February 2008 – Mr. Luis Miguel Carrilho assumed his duties as United National Police (UNPOL) Commissioner of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) on 23 February 2009.
  • 12 Feb 2009 - Dili, 12 February 2009 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) to Timor-Leste Atul Khare has given special thanks to the Japanese Government for its contributions to the development of Timor-Leste while meeting with Japan's Defence Minister Yasukazu Hamada.
    The SRSG met with the Defense Minister on the second day of Mr. Khare's two-day visit to Japan.

    On 9 February, SRSG Khare called on Japan's President of House of Councillors Satsuki Eda. Mr. Eda was joined by several members of the Parliamentarians League for Timor-Leste, namely Mr. Tsutomu Hata, the former Prime Minister, Ms. Tomiko Okazaki, the Secretary-General of the League for Timor-Leste, Mr. Tsurunen Marutei and Mr. Yuji Sawa, the Chairman of the Committee on Judicial Affairs.
  • 11 Feb 2009 - Dili, 9 February 2009 - On 9 February, SRSG Khare called on Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone of Japan to brief him on situation in Timor-Leste, and to exchange views on Japan's contribution to peacekeeping and peacebuilding in Timor-Leste. The meeting took place at the beginning of SRSG Khare's two-day bilateral visit to Japan, ahead of his travel to New York for the meeting of the Security Council on Timor-Leste, scheduled to take place on 19 February.
