UNMIT
United Nations Mission in Timor-Leste

Closure of UNMIT

The United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste completed its mandate on 31 December 2012. The establishment of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) was preceded by a number of other UN operations or missions deployed in Timor-Leste beginning in 1999.

UNMIT Coordination

The HCT is a coordination forum for humanitarian and early recovery activities in Timor-Leste.

The objective of the HCT is to ensure sound coordination and communication on emergency preparedness, humanitarian and early recovery response in Timor-Leste between the UN, non-government organizations (NGOs), and international organizations. The HCT will work in close collaboration with the Government to facilitate a coordinated and effective approach in support of and to assist people affected by a humanitarian crisis.

This forum replaces the previous Humanitarian Coordination Committee (HCC) as the international policy and advocacy body.
