The United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste completed its mandate on 31 December 2012. The establishment of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) was preceded by a number of other UN operations or missions deployed in Timor-Leste beginning in 1999.

Momentum: Timor-Leste forges a vibrant future

Momentum pays tribute to the achievements of the people of Timor-Leste since they embarked on the path of independence in 1999 and marks the departure of UN peacekeepers from Timor-Leste after 13 years.

Containing hundreds of photos and interviews and 55 exclusive videos chronicling every aspect of life, culture and progress in Timor-Leste since the Popular Consultation of 1999, the Momentum is the first of its kind for a peacekeeping mission.
